Beyond the Headlines: The German Print

This course explores the German print media landscape between yellow press and feuilleton. We will discuss the different types of texts like reportage, commentary or portrait, analyze texts and write our own articles. We will learn how to edit, to text headlines and captions. Twice a week we’ll develop our own magazine in editorial staff meetings. After three weeks, the photographer Christine Sommerfeldt will join us, and together we compose a visual concept for the magazine, which will be designed by Art Director Nadja Zobel in Berlin. At the end of the course we will present the Middlebury College Zeitschrift Nr. 1.
