Introduction to Gay and Lesbian Studies

This course will provide an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of gay and lesbian studies. We will explore three topics: the construction and representation of homosexuality in history, queer culture before and after Stonewall, and queer theory. Readings will include works by Martin Duberman, Lillian Faderman, Oscar Wilde, Radclyffe Hall, Tony Kushner, Sarah Schulman, Eve Sedgwick, and Michel Foucault.
