Painting with Water-based Media

Painting is a contemplative endeavor. In this hands-on studio course students will receive personal instruction in the skills necessary to handle watercolor while engaging with the medium. We will spend long periods of time observing the world around us as we practice the use of this fluid pigment to make work drawn from visual fact. Composition, drawing, perspective, value, color, and technique will be addressed. Content and concept will also be explored and developed. Students may investigate other water-based mediums through these broadly applicable concepts and skills. Each student will be required to purchase materials costing approximately $70-110.

*This course does not satisfy studio art credit./
