• WRPR 1813 Mystique of Pride and Prejudice

    Almost two hundred years after its publication, Pride and Prejudice, not only continues to be read, but its iconic characters have been reproduced on film in settings as diverse as Salt Lake City and Punjab. Professional and amateur authors in print and on internet sites continue to rewrite this novel in both modern and regency setting. Why? In this course we will analyze the reasons for the continued popularity of Jane Austen’s novel, Pride and Prejudice by an intensive reading of the novel, viewing at least five adaptations of the novel, reading recent adaptations, and by recreating the characters ourselves. ART LIT EUR (M.
