Adv Media and A/V Localization
This course builds on foundational concepts covered in the core Media and Audiovisual Localization course, with a continued emphasis on advanced desktop publishing (DTP) and multimedia production workflows. We’ll explore advanced DTP techniques using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, including Photoshop scripting for automation, creating and managing custom fonts, and modifying fonts to add diacritical marks. Students will investigate fixed-layout and read-along EPUBs, gaining hands-on experience with both design and localization considerations for digital publishing. The audiovisual portion of the course dives deep into Adobe After Effects for motion graphics, expands work in Premiere Pro for video editing and dubbing, and introduces Articulate Storyline for localizing interactive corporate training modules. Students will also explore Adobe RoboHelp for multi-channel publishing and Canva for social media localization and international brand adaptation. Throughout the course, students will integrate several projects into their professional ePortfolio, showcasing their localization strategies for modern media. By the end of the semester, students will have developed the skills to manage complex multimedia localization workflows and produce accessible, multilingual content across platforms.
