Speaking Russian through Culture and History

This discussion-based course develops speaking skills in Russian through conversations about key historical events and the major cultural works associated with them. Each unit centers on a significant moment in Russian history and introduces both prominent cultural figures and landmark works in literature, visual art, music, and film that engage with or reflect the event. The course emphasizes developing spoken Russian through guided discussion and interactive activities. Students practice fluent communication and also learn to write brief annotations for selected texts and materials. Counts as a course in language and linguistics or history, politics, and culture.
