Bulgakov’s Master and Margarita

This course will be designed as a close reading of the famous “demonic” novel by Mikhail Bulgakov, which was not allowed for publication during the author’s lifetime or thirty years after his death. We will discuss the unique structure and philosophy of the novel, as well as its political background and artistic genealogy (literary, musical, religious, and philosophical sources).
