Level 4 Advanced Italian Conversation is intended for students who have achieved an advanced level of proficiency in Italian and are able to function independently in an immersive Italian-language environment. Building on the advanced grammatical and syntactic structures studied in previous coursework, this course emphasizes the development of fluency, expressive precision, and pragmatic competence in contemporary Italian.

The course focuses on the following:

• Strengthening advanced oral communication skills through discussions, presentations, debates, simulations, and collaborative activities.

• Applying complex grammatical and syntactic structures in authentic communicative contexts.

• Analyzing contemporary Italian cultural production, including literary texts, articles, music, films, and television series.

• Exploring issues of identity, migration, multiculturalism, and social change in twenty-first-century Italy.

• Expanding vocabulary and communicative strategies appropriate to a variety of formal and informal contexts.

By the end of this seven-week immersion program, students should reach a C1 level of proficiency in spoken interaction and oral expression. They will be able to participate in complex discussions, present and defend nuanced viewpoints, analyze literary and media texts critically, adapt language to different communicative situations, and engage thoughtfully with contemporary cultural and social issues in Italy.
