Indian Politics Through Cinema
India is the world's largest country, democracy, and one of the fastest developing and most ethnically diverse countries in the world. It also houses one of the world's largest film industries. In this course we will examine key themes in Indian politics through classic and contemporary Bollywood film. These themes include colonialism, independence, Partition, caste politics, and Hindu nationalism, among others. (Not open to students who successfully completed HARC1009.)
