Narratives on Rivers, Nature, and Ecology

In this course we will practice the art of non-fiction story telling with a focus on narrative essay-writing about rivers and water as places that are ecologically as well as emotionally, imaginatively, and spiritually significant. We will interweave elements of personal essay with nature writing, with writing informed by science, history, and current environmental issues. Readings will include works by authors including Robin Wall Kimmerer, Annie Dillard, Wendell Berry, and Bill McKibben as we build a community of readers and writers, consider the process of writing, offer feedback on writing, and learn to revise.
