Introduction to Sociolinguistics

This course offers an overview of sociolinguistic theory, concentrating on the history and basic concepts related to the subject, as well as sociolinguistics variants due to social and cultural factors in Spain, Latin America, and the United States. Students will be introduced to theoretical and methodological concepts such as social and linguistic variants in research on language contact. (1 unit).

Required materials: Theory, practical exercises, articles, and other reading materials provided by the professor at Middlebury online in “Canvas”.
