Great Issues of French Society Today

Today, many questions and issues are being debated in France. Opinions, discussions, and polemics are numerous and set many French people against each other. We will focus on fifteen or so areas of debate that allow us to grasp the specificities of French society, the weight of the traditions that run through it and the innovations that affect it: immigration, the European Union, the territorial divide, the war in Ukraine, the Republic, secularism, the French social model, the difference between the sexes, education, religion, the family, the strike, cooking, culture, work, the State... We will approach these different issues from primary source documents (images, statistics, broadcasts...) and analytical texts (journalists, sociologists, philosophers, political actors, historians, psychoanalysts...)
