Arabic Curriculum Development provides students and Arabic instructors with training in curriculum development. The course starts with a review of the various approaches to foreign language curriculum design, followed by careful study and analysis of the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and ACTFL National Standards of Foreign Language Learning. The participants will be guided through examination of successful models of curriculum samples to design curriculum materials covering the four language skills for all levels of Arabic instruction and adapt existing ones to better fulfill students’ and program needs. The course features hands-on work with material development individually and in small groups under the direction of the course instructor with the goal of helping to develop your craft as a language teaching practitioner and develop your skills as a critical thinker, lifelong learner, problem solver, mentor, decision maker, and ethical moral professional.
