ITAL 3414A
Advanced Academic Writing
The Advanced Academic Writing course develops students’ ability to produce clear, coherent, and effective academic writing in Italian. Through the analysis of authentic texts and guided writing workshops, students learn the conventions of academic discourse while refining their grammar, vocabulary, organization, and style.
The course emphasizes the writing process, including planning, drafting, revising, and editing. Students compose analytical, argumentative, and research-based texts and develop strategies for constructing well-supported arguments, organizing information effectively, and adapting their writing to different audiences and purposes.
Regular writing assignments, peer review, and revision activities help students strengthen their independence as writers and improve their ability to communicate complex ideas with precision and clarity.
By the end of the course, students will be able to produce well-organized academic texts, develop and support sophisticated arguments, employ appropriate academic conventions, and demonstrate advanced proficiency in written Italian.
