Intaglio Printmaking for Bookmaking

In this intensive course we will focus on the art of making prints with the intention of binding them into artists’ books. Students will learn traditional intaglio printmaking techniques by creating a series of works using methods such as hard ground and aquatint. Several bindings for bookmaking will be covered including accordion, four hole, and long stitch/link stitch. Other bindings, registration, and sequencing of imagery will also be covered. Students will be encouraged to develop imagery that has a relationship to the binding as well as to their developing body of work. Each student will be required to contribute $100 towards the cost of materials.
