Law and Disorder: Criminal Practice and Procedure in the 21st Century

This course will familiarize students with both the Vermont Criminal Justice system and the rules of criminal procedure within which attorneys must operate. This course will further develop students’ ability to view, analyze, and present a criminal case to a jury. What decisions go into the filing of criminal charges, who are the players, what are the rights of the defendant, and how is a case prepared and presented to jury? These questions will be explored through both lecture and practical experience. The course will culminate with students participating in a mock trial.
