Scientific Reasoning Through Practical Applications

In this guided inquiry course students will learn the processes and techniques used by scientists while investigating real-world challenges such as building batteries, purifying water, and formulating soaps. This activities-based course will be focused in Chemistry and Physics, yet the skills learned will be transferable to all sciences. Daily team-based laboratory experiments will equip students with the reasoning and problem-solving skills necessary to succeed in STEM disciplines. The course requires no college-level mathematics, although students will perform quantitative calculations using high-school algebra. It is aimed at students who wish to improve their scientific proficiency before tackling more advanced program-specific science courses. (Approval Required)
