AI and Healthcare
AI and the Future of Healthcare
Will artificial intelligence make healthcare more affordable, accessible, equitable, and effective—or will it reinforce existing inequalities and introduce new risks? In this course we will explore AI's potential to transform healthcare through the perspectives of patients, healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies, and insurers. Drawing on economics, public policy, ethics, and the social sciences, students will examine how technological innovation interacts with human judgment, institutional incentives, and societal values. Through academic readings, expert interviews, collaborative research, and structured debates, students will investigate competing claims about AI's benefits and risks. Working individually and in teams, students will develop evidence-based perspectives on how emerging technology could disrupt and reshape healthcare.
