Reading Literature

This course seeks to develop skills for the close reading of literature through discussion of and writing about selected poems, plays, and prose fiction. The goals are as follows: to improve our writing; to practice reading and thinking critically; and to acquire knowledge, methods, and skills helpful to further literary study in general and vital for continued coursework in the English major.
