This course will explore the role of science, technology, economics, law, and social and political factors in water policy and management. The course will involve lectures, at least one field trip, and student presentations. The course telescopes from the broad to the specific, starting with the major water challenges of the 21st century. The first half of the course will provide a crash course in interdisciplinary approaches to water management from hydrology to water law. The second half of the course will be focused on applying "soft path" principles to water management in a variety of settings.
