Following the completion of IPOL 8520, students must complete a group field project while on assignment, which will be designed and executed under the supervision of a faculty advisor. The faculty advisor will also evaluate and grade the final product. You are required to return to Monterey in late August to complete your project and present the final product at an academic conference. Your team should take advantage of the environment/locale of your assignments for collecting and analyzing data . Your team and your faculty advisor will negotiate a schedule of intermediate deliverables and drafts to keep you on track. This plan will be reviewed by the IPSS Academic Director and will form a detailed and individualized syllabus against which you will be graded. Your assigned organization is not responsible for evaluating the field project, but it has an important role to play in working with you in identifying a topic of mutual interest, and in ensuring that you have sufficient time and access to information to complete your research. Each participating organization is requested to work with students in providing such data that leads to a product that can enhance the work of the organization. One of your primary tasks while on assignment is to perform as a junior staff member of the organization.
