Career management is an essential life skill whether you are just starting on your career trajectory or a mid-career professional. The Fall 2017 Career Management Course (CMC) is part one of a two part, two semester series. CMC Part One begins with exploring your career options and gaining a deeper understanding of your professional identity or “brand”. We will next create TILM resumes and cover letters, hear internship stories and learn the skill and nuances of building your professional relationships. CMC Part Two, during the spring 2018 semester, will focus on preparing you for the annual Career Fair, the summer internship search and learning how to negotiate a compensation package. Both sections will be engaging with in-class activities and relevant presentations.

You will begin by asking yourself these key questions:

- Reflecting upon my strengths, goals, interests and vision, how best to build my professional image or personal brand?

- How can I effectively communicate my strengths through a resume, cover letter, and networking?

- How can I view the internship and job search from the employer’s perspective?

This course is highly recommended for first-semester students, although, students can also participate in their second year of study. This course is offered in program-specific sections, so if your schedule permits, it is recommended to sign up for the section corresponding with your degree program. No tuition is charged for this non-credit course.
