Cybersecurity: An Interdisciplinary Approach

The course serves as an introduction to cybersecurity. By applying an interdisciplinary lens it combines technical, legal, and policy perspectives on cyberspace security. By the end of the course, students should be able to understand principles of computer network functionality and the role of IT technologies in international security; define key terms and concepts in the field of cybersecurity; identify and distinguish threat actors and their motivations; predict cyberthreat dynamics and their influence on national and international security systems; recognize practical and theoretical aspects of data protection in cyberspace. As part of the course, students will have an opportunity to prepare for the Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge - an annual competition organized by the Atlantic Council, which allows participants from across the globe to compete in developing policy recommendations tackling a fictional cyber catastrophe.
