Course Title: Career Management for Professional Growth
This course equips students with essential strategies, tools, and skills to effectively manage their career development—whether they are just starting out or are already mid-career professionals. The course emphasizes building upon individual strengths to enhance personal branding, craft professional job search documents (resumes and cover letters), and practice essential skills such as interviewing and networking. Students will also gain insights into different industry ecosystems and learn how to navigate various employers and roles.
This non-credit, tuition-free course is highly recommended for first-semester students, though it is open to all students regardless of their program or stage.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• Utilize the career management cycle to make intentional career moves.
• Apply self-assessment tools and networking strategies to clarify and articulate their strengths, skills, and preferences.
• Produce well-targeted, professional resumes and cover letters.
• Build an organized and proactive internship or job search strategy.
• Understand the variety of roles and employers within the language and policy-related industries.
