Chinese Independent Study
Chinese Independent Study course is specifically designed for Chinese language learners at the Intermediate-High to Advanced-Low proficiency levels, aiming to elevate paragraph-level discourse into sustained, cohesive narrative and argumentative expression through the research topics of students' choices. Through inquiry-based learning, students will engage with authentic multi-media resources, contemporary sociocultural topics, or classical strategic texts to bridge the gap between concrete language usage and critical thinking.
Under the instructor's guidance, students will pursue individual research projects tailored to their academic interests, conducting textual analysis, synthesizing diverse viewpoints, and presenting their findings both orally and in writing. By navigating complex, real-world contexts, students will significantly enhance their ability to defend opinions, handle unfamiliar topics, and develop deep cross-cultural literacy, establishing a robust foundation for pre-advanced level language application.
