This advanced-level course offers second-year Chinese T&I students the opportunity to undertake individualized translation projects from Chinese into English. Enrollment requires faculty approval. Project topics and scope are determined collaboratively between the student and supervising faculty member on a case-by-case basis, allowing for specialization in areas such as literary, technical, medical, or legal translation.



Students will produce a substantial translated text as the primary deliverable. Additional coursework components, as determined by the instructor, may include a critical commentary or short thesis that analyzes translation strategies, linguistic challenges, and cultural considerations encountered in the project. The course emphasizes independent work, close faculty mentorship, and the development of professional-level translation competence.
