Introduction to Teaching Methodologies

What are the primary skills needed to teach French adeptly in American schools? In this six-week graduate-level course, you will answer this question by exploring key concepts in French language curriculum design, assessment, and instructional practice. By the end of the course, you will be able to create contextually responsive curricular artifacts and enact a range of teaching strategies such as adapting your teacher talk, leading group discussions, and providing oral corrective feedback. You will demonstrate your learning in thematic unit plans, activity enactments, and a showcase of your pedagogical abilities to be shared with your larger communities of practice. This course is required for those pursuing the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and is open to anyone who is interested in teaching French.
