French-US Journalism: Covering

In this course, we examine how French and American correspondents cover each other’s countries—and what their stories reveal about their own. We will analyze cultural misunderstandings, editorial blind spots, and recurring obsessions in foreign reporting. Topics include social codes, reporting taboos, neglected regions, and how journalism evolves in response to political, cultural, and technological shifts. The course will conclude with a journalistic writing workshop using cross-cultural analysis to reflect on an issue at home.
