Conflicts in the Indo-Pacific
Navigating Security and Economic Conflicts in the Indo-Pacific
In this course we will explore the security and economic conflicts in the Indo-Pacific region. Recently India and China have both conceptualized their growing regional power in opposition to each other and leveraged economic and military coercion to force countries in the region to choose one power as an ally. Additionally, India and China have had military disputes over contested territory. Using academic articles, policy documents, and guest speakers, we will analyze the dynamics of regional power competition between China and India, South Asian territorial and economic tensions, strategic responses among countries in the region, and the role played by the US in Asia. This course includes an optional spring break immersive fieldwork component in India. /This course contains a community-connected component./ (International Relations and Foreign Policy)
