Sem: Negotations & Decisionmaking in Arab-Israel Conflict

In this course we analyze various limited armed incidents between Israel and its neighboring countries and explore the decision making process on both sides during these conflicts and in the negotiations that followed. In particular we focus on the goals of the parties, the tactics used to achieve those goals, and the role of the mediator in negotiations. We also discuss the continuing outcome of each negotiation and decision on the succeeding events in the Israeli-Arab conflict. In addition to discussing past events, the course examines possible future directions in settling the conflict as it stands today.
