This course aims to deepen students’ understanding of Japanese business culture, management philosophy, and practices while developing practical communication skills used in Japanese business settings. Another goal of the course is to enhance overall advanced Japanese proficiency by studying current business trends, including the successes and challenges of globalizing Japanese businesses. In this course, students will practice both linguistic and pragmatic skills to communicate appropriately and to handle business situations effectively in Japanese. Class activities include writing resumes, participating in mock job interviews, conducting meetings with business partners, and engaging in workplace scenario role-plays. The study of advanced vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, kanji compounds and grammar is integrated throughout the course.
