    In this course we will study the major texts in political philosophy from Plato to Nietzsche. They include: Plato's Apology of Socrates and The Republic; Aristotle's Ethics and Politics; major writings of Thomas Aquinas; Machiavelli's The Prince; Hobbes' Leviathan; Locke's Second Treatise on Government; Rousseau's Second Discourse; Marx's Communist Manifesto, The Jewish Question, The German Ideology, andCapital; Nietzsche's The Advantage and Disadvantage of History for Life; and Max Weber's "Science as a Vocation."
